Why do chubby girls feel so invisible?
I just don’t get it. I’m chubby, not obese, just a little overweight, and yeah, I could drop some pounds. But why does that make my voice feel like it doesn’t matter? A fit friend can say the exact same thing I do, with the same confidence, and everyone listens.
And it’s not like I look terrible, I dress up nice, I put effort in! I try to stay positive, but I’ve even heard people say chubby girls are practically invisible. Now I get what that means.
It’s worse at my CS internship at this company. My ideas get shut down half the time, and some people look at me like I’m gross. The thinner colleague are killing it, having a great experience. I don’t think I’m ugly! But being treated like I’m less just because I’m chubby? It sucks.
Company lunches are the worst. Once I went for seconds, and a guy intern said: “Yeah, that’s how you end up plus-sized fast.” I just want to be seen for my skills. Is that really too much to ask?

You’re not invisible and you’re not less for being chubby. The people who can’t look past that are the ones missing out.
