It’s so annoying people hate on food cultures

Nothing bugs me more than people trashing other countries’ food cultures because they won’t bother learning the why. Take when people diss Americans: “Ugh, they always get huge portions, so fat.” WTF!? We’ve got a whole leftover culture! Most of us order big because we take the rest home for later, that’s the point of those portions. Yeah, obesity’s a real issue, and it sucks that’s a side effect. But calling everyone fat because of how we order? That’s lazy generalization and just makes things worse. And it’s not just us! The UK gets roasted for “bland” food all the time. But their dishes are supposed to be blank slates! Biscuits dip in tea for sweetness, fish and chips get salt and vinegar. The flavor comes from what you pair them with, not the dish itself. Why diss a food culture you know nothing about? Calling it “dogshit” because you’re ignorant?
