Focus on what you can!

2024/12/14 Edited to

... Read moreYou know that feeling, right? When you're just stuck, fixating on everything that's going wrong, unable to move forward? I've been there countless times. It's so easy to get caught in that spiral of 'what if' and 'why me,' especially when things aren't working out the way you planned. But through my own journey, I've learned that the most powerful shift you can make starts with where you put your 'focus.' It's like the image perfectly puts it: 'Don't focus on what's not working. Focus on what CAN be done for right now.' This isn't just fluffy advice; it's a game-changer. When I feel overwhelmed, I literally stop myself and ask: 'Okay, what's one tiny thing I can control or influence right this second?' Maybe it's not the grand solution, but it's a step. And often, that first small step creates momentum. For example, if I'm facing a huge project at work and I'm stressing about all the complex parts, my brain immediately goes to 'this is too much, I can't do it.' Instead of letting that thought paralyze me, I challenge it. What's the very first task I can tackle? Is it just opening the document? Making a list of sub-tasks? Sending one email? By zeroing in on 'what CAN be done for right now,' I shift my mindset from feeling helpless to feeling capable. And that idea of 'Then go from there. Figure your sh*t out. But accept that your ways won't always work' is so crucial. Life isn't a straight line, and neither are our solutions. I used to get so frustrated when my initial plan didn't pan out. Now, I see it as part of the process. It's okay if plan A fails; there's always a plan B, C, or even an entirely new approach you haven't considered yet. It's about being adaptable and not letting past failures dictate your future actions. This isn't about ignoring problems, but rather changing your approach to them. Instead of dwelling on the negative, you're actively engaging with the positive potential. It boosts your motivation and helps you reclaim a sense of control. So, next time you feel stuck, remember to pivot your 'focus.' What small, actionable thing can you do today to move an inch closer to where you want to be? You might be surprised at how much progress you can make, one 'CAN do' step at a time!
