Things I wish I knew before self-publishing📝

Just to clarify, I LOVE self-publishing. There are so many great things about being an indie author, especially having full control over my work. But it’s definitely hard at times and there are harsh truths I’ve had to face. People I’ve had to look at differently. Deadlines I’ve stressed over (because I’m hard on myself and somewhat of a perfectionist.) At the end of the day, all that matters is bringing that story in your head to life and being proud of it. I’m so proud of myself and my fellow indie authors!🩷🩷🩷

... Read moreSelf-publishing can be both exhilarating and daunting. One of the most critical things to understand is that while it offers complete creative control, it also presents challenges that aren't always visible at first. Many authors find that their biggest supporters are often strangers who appreciate their work, while support from friends or family may not be as robust as expected. Building a community, like engaging in #indieauthorjourney, can provide the much-needed encouragement and advice. Moreover, it's vital to accept deadlines as part of the process; they can help maintain your focus but shouldn't come at the cost of quality. Your initial engagement with your writing will transform as you grow in this journey—books will come to hold profound meaning in your life. Embrace the laughter, the tears, and the joy that come with telling your story. Remember, each challenge you face is a stepping stone toward becoming a better author and should be viewed as part of your rewarding publishing journey.
