CLEAN EATING POSTPARTUM

I have definitely been trying to focus on loading up on the protein to keep me full longer without having to eat a bunch of random junk to keep me full throughout the day. I am breastfeeding so I am ALWAYS hungry! I’ve been making sure to get in protein and also healthy fats. Carbs as well on a lower scale! I don’t think those should ever be cut out completely :)

I am so proud of myself for sticking to my healthy eating throughout this day because I spent half the day in the car going to to get my car serviced (an hour away 🙄) and I was late getting out the door. Usually when I am late somewhere all my eating intentions go out the window and I just grab whatever is in front of me and easy to take with me (which is usually not something healthy) because I get sooo hungry and I refuse to go without some type of food even if i’m late. Today however, I actually thought ahead and put all this in the air fryer while I got ready so I could throw it in a container and take it with me! Yay 😃

Lunch was already meal prepped for when I got back which was good because I was starving! As for dinner I honestly was not sure if using zero fat milk would work in place of heavy cream but it worked perfectly and tasted exactly the same as the normal cream sauce!! It is just slightly different in color and didn’t make me feel icky like normal vodka sauce does lol.

... Read morePostpartum nutrition is crucial for new mothers, especially when breastfeeding. Focusing on a balanced diet rich in proteins, healthy fats, and moderate carbohydrates can help sustain energy levels and support recovery. Incorporating ingredients like plant-based sausage, lean ground beef, and nutritious snacks can enhance meal variety and satisfaction. Meal prepping is one of the most effective strategies for maintaining clean eating habits, particularly with a busy schedule. Preparing meals in advance ensures you'll have healthy options ready, even on hectic days. Using cooking methods like air frying not only speeds up meal prep but also retains the nutritional quality of your food. Staying hydrated and considering alternatives, like using nonfat milk in recipes, can lighten meals without sacrificing flavor. Many mothers find that exploring different healthy swaps can make meals more enjoyable and satisfying. Embrace clean eating as a lifestyle choice that not only benefits you but also sets a positive example for your family. Engaging with communities on platforms like Lemon8 can provide additional support and inspiration, helping mothers to share their cooking experiences and tips. Remember, eating well is not just about restriction; it's about nourishing your body and enjoying the process!
