The Scenic Town of Peace River
If you've ever driven to Peace River you probably had the same moment as me... You're driving along prairie farmland and out of nowhere you're hit with the scenery of the valley and the Mighty Peace River. It is a sight to behold. It really is a gem and it has a lot to offer with industry like forestry and oil and gas, and it's also just a cool place to visit. In the summer you'll see boats going up the river and there's lots of hunting and fishing that goes on. I lived there several years ago and I always love coming back to the beauty and serenity of Peace River. Oh, and you have to stop and check out the monument of the fir trade explorer 12 Foot Davis.

Visiting Peace River truly feels like stepping into a serene escape surrounded by natural beauty and rich history. One of my favorite memories includes driving along the vast prairie farmlands, when suddenly the expansive valley opens up, revealing the mighty Peace River winding through the landscape. The contrast between the flat farmlands and the lush river valley makes for stunning panoramic views. If you enjoy outdoor activities, Peace River does not disappoint. During summer, the river becomes lively with boats cruising gently along, and the abundant forests nearby offer excellent hunting and fishing opportunities for enthusiasts. I recall spending weekends fishing by the riverbank, enjoying the calm water and fresh air—it’s perfect for those looking to reconnect with nature. The town’s economic livelihood is closely tied to forestry and oil and gas, making it an interesting place to learn about Alberta's resource-driven industries. But beyond industry, the community embraces its historical roots. A must-see is the monument dedicated to 12 Foot Davis, a legendary fur trade explorer known for his larger-than-life stature and impact on the region’s heritage. For travelers seeking a mix of outdoor adventure, scenic vistas, and local history, Peace River offers a unique and memorable experience. The peaceful ambiance combined with engaging activities makes it an ideal destination for family trips, photography outings, or simply a quiet retreat into nature’s embrace.
