Prepping snacks

Prepped snacks for my son's chemotherapy week. These snacks help us get through a long Chemotherapy session. They also help keep him nourished after chemotherapy. Sometimes he is tired and can't eat a whole meal so healthy snacks throughout the day help fulfilled.

Chemotherapy often leads to fatigue and loss of appetite, making full meals challenging to consume. That's where prepped snacks come in — they provide manageable portions that keep nourishment steady throughout the day. Some of the best snacks during chemotherapy include easy-to-digest, high-protein, and vitamin-rich choices such as Greek yogurt, nut butters on whole grain crackers, soft fruits like bananas or berries, and smoothies packed with greens and protein powder. It's also important to keep snacks appealing yet gentle on the stomach, avoiding overly spicy or acidic foods that may trigger discomfort. I recommend preparing snack portions in advance and storing them conveniently, so they are readily accessible during fatigue or nausea episodes. Hydration is equally crucial, so pairing snacks with herbal teas or electrolyte drinks can improve comfort. Additionally, listening closely to how the person feels day-to-day allows snack options to be tailored, ensuring variety, taste, and tolerance. This personalization helps maintain calorie intake when regular meals are sparse. Supporting someone through chemotherapy with prepared snacks not only addresses physical needs but also adds emotional reassurance — knowing nourishing options are always within reach provides comfort during challenging treatment periods.
