Save 💰 and MAKE your OWN butter 🧈

I’ll be honest, this shouldn’t feel as rewarding as it does… but butter is getting so expensive along with everything else at the grocery store! I’m really trying to do EVERYTHING I can here at home and I want to share it with you!!

RECIPE DOWN BELOW!!👇🏼

To make your own butter you will simply need HEAVY cream. (Heavy whipping cream and whipping cream are both suitable choices) HOWEVER heavy cream, with the highest percentage of butterfat, will yield the most butter!

Making homemade butter is a simple and rewarding process that requires just a few ingredients and some basic equipment. Here's a step-by-step guide to making homemade butter:

Ingredients:

- 1 pint (475 ml) heavy cream

- Salt (optional)

Equipment:

- Stand mixer or handheld electric mixer

- Whisk or beater attachment

- Cheesecloth or a clean, thin kitchen towel

- A bowl or container to shape the butter

Instructions:

1. Pour the heavy cream into the mixer bowl and beat it on medium to high speed until it begins to thicken and hold its shape. This should take about 2-3 minutes.

2. Reduce the speed to medium-low and continue beating until the cream starts to break down and separate into two distinct parts: butter and buttermilk. You'll notice a change in the sound of the mixer and the texture of the cream.

3. Stop the mixer and let it sit for a minute or two to allow the butter to firm up.

4. Line a strainer with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel and place it over a bowl. Carefully pour the butter and buttermilk into the strainer.

5. Let the mixture drain for about 10-15 minutes, until most of the buttermilk has been removed and the butter has reached the desired consistency. You can speed up the process by gently squeezing the cheesecloth or towel.

6. Gather up the edges of the cheesecloth or towel and give the butter a good squeeze to remove any remaining buttermilk.

7. Transfer the butter to a bowl or container and shape it into a ball or log, depending on your preference. If desired, add salt to taste and mix well.

8. Wrap the butter tightly in plastic wrap or wax paper and chill it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow it to firm up before serving.

- Use high-quality, fresh cream for the best flavor and texture.

- Add a pinch of salt to the butter to enhance the flavor and help preserve it.
