Today officially kicks off our homeschool year. 📚🤎
A new year means fresh notebooks, sharpened pencils, new goals, and another chance to learn and grow together.
Every homeschool year reminds me that education is about so much more than checking boxes or finishing a curriculum. Although, that is also important too.
It’s about asking questions.
Building confidence.
Following curiosity.
Learning through everyday moments.
And growing together.
Will every day go as planned? Unlikely
Will there be hard days? Without a doubt.
But there will also be lightbulb moments, belly laughs, unexpected lessons, and memories we’ll carry long after this school year is over.
I’m so grateful for another year to walk alongside my son on this journey.
Here’s to a year filled with learning, grace, and making memories. 🤍
To all the homeschool families that already started or are starting soon, I hope you have an amazing year!
What are you looking forward to this year?
As someone who has journeyed through multiple homeschool years, I've realized that the true essence of homeschooling extends far beyond lesson plans and scheduled activities. Each new school year offers a unique opportunity to nurture curiosity and foster a love for learning that lasts a lifetime. A helpful resource I've found invaluable is Brain Quest for third graders, which supports key areas like reading, spelling, vocabulary, and mathematics. Edited by E.D. Hirsch, Jr., it aligns well with fundamental educational standards and engages children in literature, history, science, and the arts through fun exercises. Integrating such materials helps make learning both structured and exciting. In my experience, the most rewarding moments come from everyday interactions—whether it’s exploring scientific concepts during a nature walk or sparking thoughtful questions over breakfast. These organic learning opportunities reinforce that education happens everywhere, not just at the desk. Challenges are inevitable—some days are tougher than others—but embracing flexibility and patience allows both parent and child to grow. Celebrating small achievements, encouraging confidence, and sharing laughter make the journey memorable. To all homeschool families embarking on a new year, consider focusing on what truly matters: nurturing curiosity, building resilience, and creating joyful memories together. This approach turns the homeschool experience into a meaningful adventure for the whole family.
