And I’m going it again…
I started last year with the intention of getting fit, finding love, and purchasing a home. 1 out of the 3 happened 🙃. So let’s just start this year with the intention of doing better than the year before ♥️
It's so easy to look back at the start of a year, full of optimism and grand plans, only to find ourselves a year later, wondering 'Who actually achieves all their resolutions?' Believe me, I've been there! Last year, my heart was set on getting fit, finding love, and finally buying a home. Achieving just one felt... well, a little bittersweet. But instead of dwelling on what didn't happen, I've realized it's a huge learning opportunity. Who knows, maybe achieving just one showed me what's truly possible when I focus? This year, I'm approaching things differently, and I wanted to share my renewed strategy in case anyone else out there is feeling the same way. Who among us hasn't set ambitious goals only to lose steam by March? I've learned that it's not just about what you want to achieve, but how you plan to get there, and perhaps even more importantly, why it truly matters to you. For instance, 'getting fit' was too vague. Who defines 'fit'? This year, I'm breaking it down. Instead of just 'get fit,' it's 'walk 10,000 steps daily' or 'do 3 strength training sessions a week.' Specificity is key! And for finding love, I'm focusing on self-love and growth first. Who can truly love another deeply if they don't love themselves? It sounds cliché, but I'm realizing its profound truth. This means dedicating time to my passions, spending quality time with friends, and nurturing my own well-being. When it came to purchasing a home, I realized my financial planning wasn't as robust as it needed to be. This year, my goal is to save a specific amount each month and explore different investment options. Who knew budgeting could be so empowering? It's not about restriction, but about directing my resources towards my dreams. I'm also building in systems for accountability. Who else finds it easier to stick to something when someone else knows about it? I'm sharing my refined goals with a trusted friend and planning weekly check-ins. Celebrating small wins throughout the journey is also crucial. Did I hit my steps goal for a week? Time for a small, non-food reward! Did I stick to my budget? Acknowledge that progress! It's easy to get discouraged when things don't go according to plan. Who hasn't felt that slump? But this year, I'm embracing the idea that setbacks are just detours, not roadblocks. My intention is simply to do better than the year before, to learn from past experiences, and to approach my aspirations with more clarity and kindness towards myself. If you're out there, wondering 'who' can make real change, I believe it's each and every one of us, one small, intentional step at a time. Let's make this year count, together! Remember, the journey of self-improvement is ongoing, and it's okay if not everything goes perfectly. The most important thing is to keep moving forward. Who's with me on this exciting path to a better year?
