Bookish apps for all your reading needs
Storygraph: this is my favorite alternative to goodreads (which I’ve never enjoyed). If you’re coming from goodreads though, you should be warned to expect less of a social media-esque app. The creators have said they want the app to be less about performing for friends and followers and more about focusing on your own reading experience. They have all sorts of fun stats that you can look at any time, although they do a wrap-up at the end of the year too. You can also track your goals and join fun challenges.
Libib: this is the app I use to catalog my personal physical library. You can enter books quickly by barcode, but if you’re like me and lost a few of your dust jackets, you can also add books manually. The app allows you to make collections and sort your books into them (I have a fantasy collection, litfic, horror, etc).
Libby: by now most of you probably know about Libby, but I only found it last year so I still like to talk about it for those who are late to the game like me. You can access your library’s ebooks and audiobooks, and the more library cards you add the larger the selection at your fingertips. (Pro tip: San Jose Public Library allows non-residents to get free e-cards to use for Libby. I just recently got one and a whole bunch of books I’d had on my “notify me” list were suddenly available.)

Remember that San Jose Public Library tip? It opened up a whole new world of instant access for me when my local library had long waits.
