🐾 Sourdough "Good Boy" Biscuits
Yields about 2 dozen small treats
The Ingredients
Sourdough Discard: ½ cup
Ripe Banana: 1 large (well-mashed)
Peanut Butter: ¼ cup (Make sure it does not contain Xylitol/Birch Sugar, which is toxic to dogs)
Whole Wheat Flour: 1 to 1 ½ cups (Use that whole wheat we talked about earlier! It's perfect here because it's hearty and crunchy).
🥣 The Instructions
The Mix: In a bowl, mash the banana until it’s liquid. Stir in the sourdough discard and the peanut butter until smooth.
The Flour: Add the whole wheat flour slowly. You want a very stiff, dry dough—much drier than your pizza dough. If it's sticky, add more flour. It should feel like heavy modeling clay.
The Shape: Roll it out on a floured surface to about ¼ inch thickness.
Pro Tip: You don't need a bone-shaped cutter. Just use a knife or a pizza cutter to make small squares or diamonds.
The Bake: * Oven/Gourmia: Preheat to 350°F (175°C).
Time: Bake for 20–25 minutes.
The "Extra Crunch" Move: Turn the oven off and let the treats sit inside as it cools down. This "dehydrates" them (you can even use your Gourmia's Dehydrate setting afterward!) to make them rock-hard, which is better for their teeth and makes the treats last longer in the jar.
📊 The "Accounting" of Dog Treats
Cost of Goods Sold: Practically zero. You're using "waste" (discard) and "over-ripe inventory" (bananas).
Quality Control: You know exactly what’s in them—no preservatives or weird chemicals.
