Someone asked me a really good question today if OMAD means trying to fit three meals into one?

And I think it’s a great question and worth sharing with everyone, and the short answer is: it depends on the person.

For some people, OMAD is simply about eating once a day to reduce food noise and simplify their relationship with food. In that case, OMAD doesn’t mean cramming three full meals into one sitting. Most people who normally eat three meals a day wouldn’t feel great doing that, as it can lead to feeling overly stuffed or experiencing a food coma.

For me personally, because I tend to eat higher-volume meals, my OMAD looks similar to a regular meal.

When OMAD is paired with fasting and prayer, intention matters even more. Fasting is always personal and individual. If someone is fasting for a specific situation, season, or prayer request, the question becomes less about the technical structure of the meal and more about the heart behind it. Am I genuinely seeking God, or trying to work around the fast by fitting everything into one plate?

Ultimately, fasting isn’t something we “game.” While we may focus on outward structure, God looks at the heart. So it really comes down to intention, purpose, and personal conviction.

Fasting isn’t a law we’re trying to uphold but a discipline that helps us to be closer to God and that looks different from person to person. Today I read a couple scriptures that made me think of this and they’re in Gal. 6:4-5 “But let each one test his own work…. For each will have to bear his own load.”

As for today’s meal, it simply consisted of what we had in the pantry since we didn’t get to grocery shop.
