He Took the Bullet to Save His Family
The TRAGEDY
At Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, New Hampshire, what was supposed to be a joyful evening turned into horror. Gunfire erupted in the middle of dinner. In that split second of chaos, 59-year-old Robert Steven DeCesare did something extraordinary: he pushed his wife and daughter beneath him, shielding them with his own body. Moments later, he was struck by a bullet that ended his life.
The HERO
Witnesses say his actions were instinctive: a father and husband’s first thought was not for himself, but for his family. His selfless act saved them from certain harm. Friends, loved ones, and even strangers now call him what he truly was: a hero.
THE AFTERMATH
The suspect, a 23-year-old former employee of the club, has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Authorities say the attack was not personally targeted, making DeCesare’s protective instinct all the more remarkable: he stepped into danger when no one else could.
👉 Robert Steven DeCesare didn’t wear a uniform or carry a badge. He was a husband and a father. And in the moment it mattered most, he proved what it means to be both.
He died protecting the people he loved. That is the definition of a hero.
