When I started this 21-day fast, I was challenged to eat only once a day. This fast was corporate with our church—fasting together to catch the fire of God—and I also carried very specific prayer requests before the Lord.

I eat large meals, a couple times a day and sometimes snacks so to have one for me was a challenge.

As the days went on, I sensed God preparing me for something deeper.

In the past, I had fasted from solid food, but I still consumed them throughout the day. This time was different. Eating once a day meant I had to sit with hunger, especially leading up to the meal and again before bed. I was challenged to face that discomfort instead of immediately silencing it.

Then, in the final three days, the fast shifted to liquids. Those three days were for a very specific petition I brought before the Lord that came up during the fast. I knew He had been preparing me for it, first by quieting food noise, and then by inviting me to release even that one daily meal.

This fast with our church was from the 5th through the 25th. We break the fast tomorrow. However, because we’d planned to fast the 26th of every month through the year, we’re fasting again on Monday.

Last year, we fasted from solid food. But, after this experience, I know God is calling me to fast on liquids on the 26th of every month.

These fast are so that we can reset, seek the Lord for our individual nutrition as we dethroned food being lord of our stomachs.

If you struggle with food addiction, overeating, mindless eating, we encourage you to fast and pray. Start with one thing you believe you can live without. Little by little, you build your self-control muscle. Not because it gets easier, but because food begins to lose its grip on you, so the Lord can take His rightful place .

These help us stop giving authority to what was never meant to have it, food!

We have free resources linked in our bio and a Facebook community, but more importantly, I want to ask you this:

What would you challenge yourself to fast from on Monday the 26th?

Mark the 26th of every month on your calendar and join us.

And let God bless your health!.

... Read moreEmbarking on a 21-day fast where I ate only once a day was both a physical and spiritual challenge that truly tested my perseverance and faith. Initially, I found the hunger difficult to endure—not just physically, but emotionally—as I was accustomed to frequent meals and snacks. This intentional discomfort taught me to distinguish between actual nourishment needs and habitual eating or cravings. As the fast progressed, particularly during the last three days when I transitioned to a liquid fast, I noticed a profound shift in how I perceived food. The 'food noise'—the constant thoughts and urges around eating—quieted significantly. This silence opened space for deeper reflection and prayer, allowing me to focus on specific intentions and spiritual petitions without distraction. From personal experience, fasting in this manner can be a powerful tool not just for physical detox but for resetting one’s relationship with food. It cultivates self-control and helps dismantle unhealthy attachments to eating that can sometimes feel like an addiction or mindless habit. The fasting journey also boosted my emotional resilience, encouraging me to sit with discomfort instead of immediately seeking relief through food. Practicing this fast as a community effort through my church added accountability and encouragement that helped me stay committed. I encourage anyone struggling with overeating or food addiction to consider starting with small fasts, like skipping a snack or one meal, gradually building up their self-control muscle. Marking a recurring fast day—like the 26th of every month—as a spiritual and physical reset has helped me maintain this practice long-term. It reminds me to realign my priorities and surrender food’s control, allowing spiritual nourishment to take precedence. For anyone interested, exploring liquid fasting or intermittent OMAD fasting in faith-based contexts can elevate both body and spirit. These fasting experiences are not merely about deprivation but about reclaiming authority over what we eat and restoring balance. When food no longer dominates your desires, there's more space for spiritual growth and health. If you’re drawn to trying this journey, consider joining others on shared fast days or utilizing community resources to enrich your process, and watch how it transforms your wellbeing both inside and out.
