Pineapple Prawn Pizza with a CRUNCH?! 🍕
Ever tried crispy wanton skin on a pizza? We stumbled upon this unique food discovery at Yeastside (Farrer Park), tucked away inside the lyf co-living space. It starts off feeling like a casual hangout, but the food details really blew us away.
🍕 What We Ordered
The pizza was what caught our attention first.
The dough is slow-fermented for 24 hours and hand-stretched daily, and you can actually taste the difference. We went for the 881 pizza, which comes with tiger prawns, pineapple sauce, cheese, baby asparagus, and crispy wanton skin on top.
Honestly, the wanton skin was what made us order it. It sounds a little random, but fresh out of the oven, the extra crunch works surprisingly well.
🥪 Also Worth Trying
The Mr Crabs focaccia was a pleasant surprise. The green harissa brought a bold kick to every bite, and the focaccia had a nice crisp edge.
The Crispy Mid Wings disappeared pretty quickly too. Well-marinated, crispy throughout, and probably our favourite dish of the meal.
Even the cauliflower dish was more enjoyable than we expected. The hummus, pomegranate and herbs gave it plenty of flavour while keeping it light.
If you are looking for a casual date spot, a catch-up with friends, or simply somewhere different from the usual café and restaurant chains, this is the perfect spot. It has a relaxed neighbourhood feel that makes you want to stay a little longer.
When I first heard about a pizza topped with crispy wanton skin, I was intrigued yet skeptical—combining Asian flavors with classic sourdough pizza is not something you see every day. Visiting Yeast Side at lyf co-living in Farrer Park turned out to be quite an exciting culinary adventure. The 24-hour slow-fermented dough truly sets the foundation, offering a chewy yet airy texture that holds up well under the generous toppings. The combination of tiger prawns and pineapple sauce creates a sweet-savory profile that is balanced perfectly by the freshness of baby asparagus. But the real game changer is the crispy wanton skin sprinkled on top just as it comes out of the oven. It adds a delightful crunch and a familiar Asian twist I hadn’t expected on a pizza. Aside from the star pizza, their Mr Crabs focaccia with chunky crab meat and vibrant green harissa adds a spicy, aromatic hit that complements the crispy edges of the bread. I also highly recommend the Crispy Mid Wings, which are well-marinated and maintain their crunch without being greasy. These wings disappeared fast at my table, proving their popularity. For those seeking lighter fare, the cauliflower dish with creamy hummus, tangy pomegranate seeds, and fresh herbs offers a refreshing bite that rounds out the meal nicely. The overall vibe of Yeast Side is unpretentious and inviting—perfect for casual dates, friendly catch-ups, or just trying something different from the typical café scene in Singapore. Personally, this experience made me appreciate how fusion cuisine can elevate comfort food into something novel yet approachable. The use of wanton skin as a pizza topping might sound unconventional, but it really balances texture and flavor. For anyone near Farrer Park looking to explore distinct food finds, Yeast Side is a hidden gem not to be missed.
