Birth is not a medical emergency. But hospitals often treat it like one.
In this empowering episode, I’m joined by Dr.Stuart Fischbein from —OBGYN, midwifery ally, and advocate for true informed consent—to uncover the truth behind modern obstetrics and what it really means to trust your body.
We talk about:
👶 My breech baby and unplanned C-section
🏥 The rise in unnecessary interventions and fear-based care
💪 VBACs, twin births, and home births (yes, they’re possible!)
🚩 Red flags to watch for when choosing your OB or midwife
This isn’t anti-doctor. It’s pro-autonomy.
Because your body is wise. Birth is sacred. And you deserve real choices.

As someone who has navigated birth options firsthand, I understand the powerful desire for a birth experience that feels authentic and honors your body’s wisdom. Many women are surprised to learn that interventions like C-sections have risen dramatically—now about a third of births involve surgical delivery, a stark increase from less than 5% in 1970. This shift often reflects fear-based medical practices rather than necessity. I've found that exploring alternatives such as medication-free birth or water birth, even within hospital settings, can offer relief while maintaining a sense of control and comfort. Unassisted or freebirth, though less common, resonates with those deeply committed to non-intervention. However, it’s crucial to have informed guidance to ensure safety for both mother and baby. Home birth is another option gaining attention, and with the right support from midwives and informed consent, many have experienced beautiful, empowering deliveries outside conventional hospitals. Watching for red flags when choosing your care provider—such as dismissiveness about your birth plan or pressuring unnecessary interventions—helps protect your autonomy. Ultimately, trusting your body and understanding all options helps combat the rising medicalization of birth. Birth is indeed sacred, and each woman deserves her own informed, respectful choices that align with her comfort and values.
