you’ll notice i’m barely in any of these photos. we spent the month of march in mexico after my retreat in costa rica, and honestly… I just wasn’t inspired. i didn’t feel the pull to document, to create, to share. and i didn’t force it. there’s something i’ve been sitting with since we got back: as an entrepreneur, your environment has a profound effect on your ability to create. not just aesthetically, but energetically. when you’re somewhere that lights you up, ideas flow, the camera comes out, you want to capture everything. when you’re not… you go quiet. mexico was fine. beautiful, even. but it wasn’t ours. nicaragua is where we’ve found that feeling. that’s where we’re hoping to go south every year from here. we actually even found the house… and I’m putting it into the universe here that it becomes ours🤞 the difference in how i feel there versus anywhere else has made it really clear that location isn’t just a backdrop… it’s part of the work. if you’ve ever had a season where the content just dried up, where you couldn’t get in front of the camera no matter how hard you tried… it might not be a discipline problem. it might be an environment problem. this is us, mostly undocumented, in march. and i’m at peace with that. #mompreneurlife
From personal experience, I’ve found that the environment truly shapes how creative I feel on a daily basis. Just like visiting Mexico, sometimes the surroundings feel beautiful but don’t quite ignite that spark you need to create. For me, it’s not only about scenery but about the energy a place holds — you might be surrounded by stunning vistas, but if your mindset isn’t aligned, it can feel uninspiring. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to honor those uninspired seasons instead of forcing creativity. It’s normal to have phases where you don’t want to be in front of the camera or produce content, and that often points back to your environment or internal state rather than a lack of discipline. Many entrepreneurs face this and try to push through, but sometimes a change of scenery or even a mental reset is what’s needed for fresh ideas to flow again. Another aspect is finding your "creative home base"—the place where you feel truly connected and energized. Like the discovery of Nicaragua as a preferred spot in this story, I too have a location that feeds my creativity and motivation. Planning to spend regular time there can be transformative, as consistency in a nurturing environment builds momentum in producing meaningful work. Also, embracing the quiet, undocumented moments can be powerful. Not every experience or project needs to be fully chronicled. Sometimes, the personal growth and rest during those times reflect inwardly and later surface as richer content. This perspective can reduce the pressure many creators feel to constantly perform and instead encourage them to listen to their authentic creative rhythms. In summary, if you find your creativity drying up, consider the role your environment plays — it’s more than just a background. Sometimes shifting that or giving yourself permission to pause can rekindle passion and lead to more genuine, inspired output.
