When I first signed the lease for this new commercial space, I wasn’t fully sold—it had its quirks, especially the odd wall that chopped up the lobby, making the reception room feel cramped. But the front space was incredibly bright, and I knew that by removing that dividing wall, I could create the open-plan salon I've always wanted. One surprising discovery was the creepy old showers hidden in the back cupboards. Removing them would have been a huge expense, so I decided to keep them for now. It’s a reminder that renovations don’t always go perfectly or quickly—but that’s part of the excitement. Over the 11 days leading to opening, I've been learning so much about the property and my vision for my salon. It feels great to turn a place that I initially hesitated about into a welcoming and stylish space for clients. This experience has taught me the importance of being flexible and creative with unexpected features in commercial properties. I’m excited to welcome everyone to see the fully transformed space soon and hope my story inspires others taking on similar projects to embrace the challenges and enjoy the process.
