JP | Ohmuro Luncheonette - A hidden gem 💎😋🇯🇵

Going for a day trip or a short 3D2N stay in Izu peninsula? You have to go down to this restaurantOhmuro Luncheonette for lunch 🖤💀

◾️ What time is it open?

10am-6pm

As per their restaurant name which had the word “lunch”, their opening hours are to cater to lunch crowds here to visitMt. Omuro / Izu Shaboten Zoo !!

◽️ What are they selling?

Each person will get a lunch set that consists of appetiser/mains/matcha + dessert

• Appetizer changes based on what local ingredients is in season

• Mains consists of Rice bowls/ Udons

• Dessert changes and we got to have the warabimochi & soy pudding. it was so small i wanted MORE it was yummy

◾️ What’s unique?

1️⃣ Let’s start off with their tableware! Its super cute because each piece was handcrafted and UNIQUE. The fact that they work with a local pottery workshop is just awesome. And the effort and detail the workshop has by handcrafting each tableware to what is required for each dish is so precious 🤎

2️⃣ And because each tableware is unique, when their appetizer first came out, IT LOOKS LIKe ART that taste DELICIOUS

- excuse me errbody feeding my camera first -

3️⃣ done w appetizer and the mains came shortly AND the fried fish rice bowl made me crazy 🤤 i have never tasted fish so good (coming from someone who doesn’t like fish)

they source their food locally so having freshly caught fish in Ito 🎣 made a huge difference in taste 🤤 i have no idea what fish it is but it was 💯

Beyond just their delicious menu, they emphasize using locally sourced ingredients to offer fresh, authentic tastes. For example, the fried fish rice bowl I tried was exceptional, especially since I usually don’t enjoy fish — the freshness of Ito’s catch made all the difference. What really makes this place stand out is their collaboration with a nearby pottery workshop, 'En no Kama.' Each piece of tableware is painstakingly handcrafted and truly one of a kind, making every dish feel like a work of art. This attention to detail highlights the care and passion behind the dining experience. The lunch sets are well balanced, combining a seasonal appetizer, a choice of comfort foods like rice bowls or udon, and a matcha dessert — some days featuring warabimochi and soy pudding that are small but incredibly tasty, leaving you wanting more! If you’re curious about other spots in Izu or want to explore varied menus in charming village cafes, trying different seasonal dishes offers insight into the local flavors and culinary creativity. Plus, for photo lovers, the aesthetic appeal of Ohmuro Luncheonette’s plating and pottery makes for perfect Instagram-worthy shots. Visiting nearby attractions like Mt. Omuro or Izu Shaboten Zoo pairs nicely with a lunch break here, making it a convenient and delightful part of your itinerary. I highly recommend setting aside time to enjoy this hidden gem for a unique Japanese lunch experience with a rustic, artistic flair.

@casavostrasg opens their second outlet at @jemsingapore and the queue doesn’t seem to end at all. I thought the lunch crowd would be gone by 2pm but no. The restaurant is still packed to its brim and there was a short queue outside. Their first outlet at Raffles City was a hit and I believe it
