When all you've known is survival for so long

2024/12/10 Edited to

... Read moreWhen all you've known is survival for so long, it can feel like an endless uphill battle. I've been there, feeling the constant pressure of just getting by, day after day. It's that exhausting state where every decision feels critical, and your energy is solely focused on navigating the next challenge. You might find yourself just going through the motions, wondering when the light at the end of the tunnel will appear. This 'survival mode' is real, and it takes an incredible toll on your mental and emotional well-being. But even in those moments, I truly believe there's an inherent drive within us to keep pushing forward. It's that quiet voice that whispers, 'you keep going cuz it's in you regardless.' For me, understanding what truly motivates me has been a game-changer. What are those 'treasures' – real or imagined – that compel you to take a long, arduous journey through life's toughest seasons? Sometimes, the greatest treasure is simply the promise of peace, a glimmer of hope for a calmer future. It's the imagined feeling of finally being able to breathe, to relax, and to truly live instead of just survive. For others, it might be the unwavering love for your family, the dream of providing them a better life, or the vision of achieving a long-held personal goal. These are powerful motivators that pull us forward when we feel like giving up. I've learned that tapping into these internal and external 'treasures' is key. It could be the desire to prove to yourself how strong you truly are, or the memory of someone who believed in you. It's finding purpose in the struggle, even if that purpose is just to emerge stronger on the other side. This isn't about ignoring the pain, but about identifying what makes the struggle worthwhile. It's about nurturing that deep-seated resilience that says, 'I can get through this, because what awaits me is worth it.' So, if you're feeling stuck in survival mode, take a moment to reflect. What is your 'treasure'? What is that real or imagined reward that fuels your journey? Hold onto it. Nurture it. Because that unwavering strength to keep going is not just something you acquire; it's something that's always been within you, waiting to be rediscovered and unleashed.
