This week’s reading journey has been a unique blend of classic literature and modern thriller suspense. Reading The Odyssey has been an impressive reminder of the richness of ancient stories and their timeless appeal. The epic tale of Odysseus’s adventurous journey continues to captivate readers with its themes of bravery, homecoming, and the human spirit’s endurance. Alongside this, I’m currently listening to Natalie D. Richards’ thriller "Five Total Strangers." The story involves five strangers who end up stranded together in a snowy, perilous setting after renting a car. This audiobook offers a gripping suspenseful experience, although I personally find thriller audiobooks less engaging than reading the same genre. However, the dynamic storytelling keeps me hooked, especially as the ending will surely shape my final impression of the book. This mix of reading and listening highlights how different formats can affect the way stories are experienced. While The Odyssey demands thoughtful reading to unpack its layers, the thriller’s audio format brings immediacy and tension to the story, enhancing the mood of danger and unpredictability. Combining this with the buzz around #booktok and #booktuber communities has made my literary week even more exciting. These platforms continue to influence how readers discover new books, exchange reviews, and connect around shared interests. For any book lovers or those curious about combining classic and contemporary genres, this week’s lineup offers a perfect balance. Whether you prefer the depth of Homer’s storytelling or the thrilling ride of a modern mystery, diversifying your reading list can lead to unexpected enjoyment and new insights. I also relate to taking breaks to enjoy other hobbies. Im so glad to finally be able to read for pleasure again. I just finished the second book in the all souls trilogy by Deborah Harkness in 3 weeks. Before I start the next one I got this highly recommended book about ethical non-monogamy and polyamory. Probably won’t take me long to get through that
