Dead by daylight
I just wanted to clean the basement
We've all been there: hooked in the basement, watching the killer stare you down, refusing to leave. It's one of the most frustrating experiences in Dead by Daylight. You just wanted to clean the basement – maybe grab a toolbox from a chest or make a quick save – but now, HE KNOWS... he knows you're down there, and he's not budging. This dreaded killer camping strategy can feel impossible to overcome, especially when you're the one on the hook. But what if I told you there are 'blood bonds mechanics' – essentially, survivor perks that foster information sharing and teamwork – that can significantly counter this? While 'Blood Bonds' isn't a single perk name, the concept refers to how survivors can use their shared knowledge to strategize against a camping killer. The most powerful tool in this scenario is often the Kindred perk, but other aura-reading perks also play a vital role. Let's break down how these 'blood bonds mechanics' turn the tide against killer camping. When a killer camps a hook, they are sacrificing pressure on the rest of the map. If the other three survivors are aware of the camping situation, they can use that time to complete generators. This is where Kindred shines brightest. When you're hooked with Kindred equipped, all other survivors see the killer's aura whenever they're near your hook. They also see each other's auras. This immediate and constant flow of information is invaluable. Imagine this: you're hooked, the killer is right there, and your teammates instantly know. Instead of three survivors blindly rushing for a risky rescue, potentially getting downed themselves, they can make informed decisions. If the killer is hard camping, Kindred tells them to stay on generators. They can coordinate who's doing what, ensuring efficient progress. It turns a potential 4K into a 3-man escape or, at the very least, a productive game where generators pop, making the killer's camping much less effective. Even if the killer fakes a leave, Kindred will reveal their true intentions, preventing a wasted unhook attempt. This mechanic essentially forces the killer to either commit to a full camp (and risk losing all generators) or leave the hook, allowing for a safer rescue. The psychological impact is also huge; knowing "HE KNOWS..." you're there, but you also know his every move around the hook, is empowering for the team. Other 'blood bonds' perks like Bond or Empathy, while not directly revealing the killer's aura at the hook, help with overall team awareness. Bond lets you see the auras of survivors within a certain range, which can help coordinate movements or identify who's safe to go for a save. Empathy shows injured survivors' auras, which can be useful for knowing if someone needs healing before attempting a rescue, or if a teammate is now in a chase, pulling the killer away. Combining these with Kindred creates a powerful network of information. So, my personal tip for countering killer camping, especially in the dreaded basement, is to always consider running Kindred or at least ensuring one teammate has it. It completely changes the dynamic. Instead of feeling helpless, you're providing crucial intel to your team. Work on those generators, pressure the killer, and when they finally realize their camping isn't working, be ready to coordinate that daring rescue if the opportunity arises. It's all about teamwork and using that shared knowledge – those 'blood bonds' – to outsmart the Entity's chosen killer.
