Reason #8 Why I Love Homeschool
Cozy socks. We woke up to some pretty cold temperatures this morning in Connecticut, so we all did the sensible thing and donned some extra cozy socks for our morning lessons. Then we added some hot coffee, warm tea, and chocolate chip pumpkin bread and eagerly waited for the first snow flake to fall, which, I’m happy to report occurred (finally) late morning. Our chemistry lesson today was to bake brownies (what better way to demonstrate chemical reactions than with a recipe for brownies? Amiright? 😉). When we first started homeschooling, I thought we should all stick to a “get dressed” routine (involving “school” clothes) to prepare us for the day. It didn’t last long. After a couple weeks the efforts were futile; we all seemed in agreement after two weeks of that nonsense that one of the greatest parts of homeschool was the ability to wear cozy clothes on freezing days (and flip flops or no shoes on sweltering days). Today was the first day this fall that I’ve put on my extra cozy wool socks. It’s an excellent representation of just how ridiculously warm and magical homeschool mornings truly are. Yes, my friends, it really is as cliched as I’m making it out to be. I can think of no better way to spend a Tuesday morning than in a pair of cozy socks, with a hot cup of coffee, surrounded by snow squalls, completing activities with my kids. Happy homeschooling!
