Hot Cheetos Boudin Balls
Hey everyone! So many of you have been curious about how I make my famous Hot Cheeto Boudin Balls, and I'm so excited to finally share my go-to recipe! These fiery, crunchy bites are an absolute game-changer for any gathering, or just when you're craving something super delicious and a little wild. Trust me, once you try these homemade puffs, you'll never go back! Here’s what you’ll need to whip up a batch of these amazing eetos-coated boudin balls: Ingredients: 1 lb boudin sausage, casing removed (preferably pork, but chicken works too!) 8 oz cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup finely chopped green onions 1/4 cup finely chopped bell pepper (I like red for color!) 1/4 cup finely chopped celery (optional, but adds a nice crunch) 1 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp onion powder Salt and black pepper to taste 1 large egg, beaten 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 2-3 bags (about 8-10 oz total) of Hot Cheetos, crushed into fine crumbs Vegetable oil, for frying Let's Get Cooking! (Approx. 20-25 min prep, plus frying time) Prepare the Boudin Filling: In a large bowl, combine the boudin sausage (casing removed), softened cream cheese, green onions, bell pepper, celery (if using), garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix everything together thoroughly with your hands until well combined. This is where the flavor magic happens! Form the Balls: Roll the mixture into 1-inch balls. Don't worry if they're not perfectly round; rustic is good! Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. If you have time, chill them in the fridge for about 30 minutes. This helps them hold their shape better during frying. Set Up Your Dredging Station: Grab three shallow dishes. In the first, put the flour. In the second, pour your beaten egg. In the third, spread out your finely crushed Hot Cheeto crumbs. I usually crush mine in a food processor or by hand in a Ziploc bag for that perfect coating. The finer the crumbs, the better they'll stick to your puffs! Coat Those Babies! Take each boudin ball, roll it lightly in the flour, then dip it in the egg, ensuring it's fully coated. Finally, roll it generously in the Hot Cheeto crumbs, pressing gently to make sure the eetos stick everywhere. Repeat until all your boudin balls are coated. Fry Time! Heat about 2-3 inches of vegetable oil in a deep pot or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C). Carefully drop a few boudin balls into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 3-4 min, or until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside. They don’t take long since the boudin is already cooked! Drain and Serve: Use a slotted spoon to remove the fried boudin balls and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Enjoy! Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce (ranch, spicy mayo, or even just a little hot sauce are amazing!). These are seriously addictive, so be warned! I love making these for game nights or holiday parties. They always disappear fast! Let me know if you try this recipe and what you think. Happy cooking!
