10 Day Crochet Series! 🤍

Hey fellow makers! I'm so thrilled to share more about Day 8 of my '10 Days of Crochet!' challenge, where I created this adorable little golden star amigurumi. It's been an incredible journey so far, and each day brings a new, fun project to life. You'll also need a crochet hook (I typically use a 3.0mm or 3.5mm for amigurumi to get tight stitches), some poly-fil stuffing, a yarn needle for weaving in ends and assembly, and a pair of scissors. Getting started with amigurumi always begins with a magic ring – it’s the secret to getting a nice, closed top without a hole. Once you have your magic ring, you’ll typically work in continuous rounds using single crochet stitches. This is how you build up the body of your amigurumi. For shaping, you’ll use increase stitches (making two single crochets in one stitch) to make your piece wider, and decrease stitches (single crocheting two stitches together) to make it narrower. To create the star shape, I started by crocheting a small, flat circle for the center. Then, for each point of the star, I worked a series of stitches, often using a combination of single crochets and half double crochets, increasing at the tip, and then decreasing to bring it back to the main body. It's almost like crocheting five tiny little triangles that connect to the central circle. Stuffing is key! As you crochet each point, make sure to stuff it firmly but not so much that the stitches stretch. This gives your star a lovely, plump shape. One tip I learned during my '10 Days of Crochet' adventure on Day 8 was to really pay attention to my tension.
