First time in D.C

2024/5/21 Edited to

... Read moreOMG, my first trip to Washington D.C. was absolutely incredible, and I just had to share all my tips for anyone else planning their first visit! It's such an amazing city, packed with history, culture, and so many cool things to see and do. If you're wondering how to tour D.C. and make the most of your trip, you've come to the right place! First things first, getting around is super easy. The Metro system is fantastic, and a lot of the main attractions are within walking distance of each other, especially around the National Mall. Definitely pack comfy shoes – you'll be doing a lot of exploring! You absolutely CANNOT miss the U.S. Capitol. Seeing it in person is breathtaking. I managed to get a tour, and honestly, being Inside the U.S. Capitol was such an awe-inspiring experience. The history just hits you! Make sure to book your Capitol tour well in advance, it's totally worth it. A little tip I learned: there's generally a dress code for Capitol tours – think business casual, no super casual wear like ripped jeans or tank tops. It just makes the experience more respectful. Beyond the Capitol, there are so many other things to see in the D.C. area. The Smithsonian museums are a dream come true because they're all free! Whether you're into art, natural history, or aerospace, there's a museum for everyone. For adults, the National Museum of American History or the National Gallery of Art are fantastic. If you're traveling with teens, the National Air and Space Museum or the International Spy Museum (not free, but super fun!) are definite hits. Walking along the National Mall, visiting the Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, and the WWII Memorial, felt so surreal. Each one tells such a powerful story. If you're looking to plan a first-time visitor's Washington D.C. itinerary, I'd suggest dedicating at least three to four days to really soak it all in. One day for the National Mall monuments and a few museums, another for the Capitol Hill area, and maybe another for Georgetown or specific interests. For those wondering about the best Washington D.C. tours, I found that while self-guided walking around the Mall is great, a specific tour for the Capitol or a themed historical tour can really enhance your understanding. There are also bus tours if you prefer to cover a lot of ground without all the walking. Whether you're looking for fun things to do in D.C. for adults – maybe checking out the vibrant nightlife in Adams Morgan, or exploring the amazing food scene – or fun things to do in D.C. for teens, like interactive exhibits or simply soaking in the historical vibes, D.C. has it all. Don't forget to look up local events happening during your visit too; there's always something going on! My biggest advice for a D.C. travel guide for first-timers? Plan a little, but leave room for spontaneity. You'll discover so much just by wandering. Have the best time on your D.C. trip guide adventure!

3 mistakes to avoid as a first time mom ❤️🫶🏻
1. Don't buy new clothes We thrifted 99% of our son's clothes and we are glad we did because these little angels grow up so fast! Our boy is 3 months old and he already wears a size 6 months. We also got a lot of other stuff on Marketplace like strollers, a bouncer, a changing table, the s

Things I got shamed about as a first time mom 😕
As I first time mom, I am constantly amazed about how I get shamed almost every time I get interactions with people. Whether I know them (family/friends) or not (strangers in stores), I am just shocked about the amount of intimate questions & judgment I get. Here are some of the things I get sh

My ICKS as a first time mom! Part 2!
1. Is he sleeping through the night? What are we expecting from a 4 months old BABY? He is a good sleeper that wakes up twice every night to eat. Good sleepers still wake up! It's 100% normal and doesn't make him a bad sleeper. I think it's very rare for babies to sleep 12 hours in a
