📈This Will Change Your Training📈

Increasing Time Under Tension (TUT) does what it sounds like. It increases the amount of time the active muscles are working under resistance.

Not to mention slowing down a movement can enhance the mind-muscle connection for a better contraction & help improve form.

Like…why wouldn’t you implement this is your workouts??

HOW TO IMPLEMENT:

Take squats as an example.

As you lower, count to 3, then come back up. You might choose to pause or hold at the bottom for 1-2 seconds before coming back up.

Once you get more comfortable with a movement and slowing it down, mess around with the times for lowering, pausing at the bottom, and even coming back up.

Like this if you’re going to try & follow for part two ✌🏻🫶🏻

(gonna talk about another way to see progress without increasing weight 🤭)

... Read moreTime Under Tension (TUT) is a crucial component for those looking to enhance their workout effectiveness. By deliberately slowing down your movements, you not only promote greater muscle engagement but also deepen the mind-muscle connection, leading to better overall results. Let's dive into a few more ways to implement TUT in your training regime. You can start with exercises beyond squats, like deadlifts and bench presses. For instance, while performing a bench press, count to 3 while lowering the bar, pause for 1-2 seconds at the lowest point, and then press back up. By adjusting the pace and hold times, you can continually challenge your muscles and prevent plateaus. Incorporating progressive overload alongside TUT can lead to substantial gains without always having to increase weights. Adequate rest periods also become essential in this method, allowing your muscles to recover while staying engaged. Regularly revisiting your TUT approach will reveal opportunities for improvement and help maintain your motivation. Lastly, listen to your body as you experiment with TUT—this strategy can be incredibly beneficial for home workouts, making it versatile for different fitness levels.
