STOP doing this if you have acne 🚫

4/4 Edited to

... Read moreFrom my experience dealing with acne-prone skin, one of the most important things I learned is how easily common habits can aggravate acne rather than improve it. For example, many people tend to over-wash or scrub their skin harshly, thinking it will help clear breakouts faster. However, this can strip the skin of its natural oils, triggering more inflammation and leading to increased acne. Instead, gentle cleansing twice a day with a mild, non-comedogenic cleanser helps maintain a healthy balance. Another frequent mistake is picking or squeezing pimples. Although tempting, this can push bacteria deeper into the skin and cause scarring. I found that applying targeted acne treatments like salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide products consistently, without physically interfering with blemishes, significantly improved my skin’s healing process. Additionally, many overlook the importance of moisturizers even when they have oily, acne-prone skin. Using a lightweight, oil-free moisturizer keeps the skin hydrated, preventing dryness and excessive oil production that can worsen acne. Sun protection is another crucial but sometimes neglected area. I used to avoid sunscreen fearing it would clog pores, but switching to a non-comedogenic, broad-spectrum sunscreen protected my skin from UV damage without causing breakouts. Overall, understanding that aggressive or rushed treatments often backfire was a game changer. Making these small but mindful changes transformed my skincare routine and helped control acne flare-ups more effectively.
