Down 20 lbs in 12 months

A little over 12 months between these photos & almost 20 lbs down by DOING LESS 🤍

For so long, I felt stuck because I was doing so much and couldn’t understand why I wasn’t seeing the results I wanted.

Turns out, I didn’t need to do more. I needed to do less consistently.

What I changed:

* consistent calorie deficit - nothing extreme

* walked A LOT -> usually 10–12k steps/day

* strength trained 3–4x/week instead of feeling like I had to workout every day

* stopped thinking every workout had to destroy me -> lower intensity + lighter/moderate weights

* prioritized protein

* rarely drink alcohol

* aimed for 7+ hours of sleep

* stopped letting one “off” meal/day turn into an off week

Nothing fancy. Nothing extreme. Just boring consistency for a long time.

The biggest thing I learned: you don’t have to run yourself into the ground to change your body.

... Read moreFrom my own experience, the journey to losing 20 pounds over a year truly proved that consistency beats intensity. What really helped me was shifting my mindset away from doing more and more workouts to just doing the right amount regularly. Walking 10,000 to 12,000 steps daily not only increased my calorie burn but also kept me active without burnout. Rather than pushing myself towards exhausting workouts every day, I focused on strength training three to four times a week with moderate weights, which helped build and preserve muscle—a crucial factor in long-term weight loss. Eating a steady, moderate calorie deficit rather than skipping meals or crash dieting gave me energy and helped avoid binges. Prioritizing protein was key—I found that it kept me full and supported muscle recovery. Another important lifestyle change was limiting alcohol, which often adds hidden calories and can slow progress. Getting at least seven hours of sleep consistently made a huge difference in managing cravings and energy levels. Importantly, I learned not to let one off meal turn into an off week. Flexibility and forgiveness made this journey sustainable mentally and physically. This approach, requiring no extreme effort or fancy diets, showed me that simple, consistent habits over time lead to meaningful changes. If you’re feeling stuck in your weight loss journey, sometimes doing less with better consistency is the best path forward.
