Foods I ate to support gut health and mcas healing

Yummy meals to support my gut! Aiming for 25–35g+ of fiber a day, 30+ different plants a week, plenty of fiber and polyphenol-rich foods, to help keep my microbiome diverse and my gut barrier strong! #mcas #butterbeans #guthealth #fiber

2/23 Edited to

... Read moreOne effective way to support gut health and manage Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS) is by focusing on a varied and fiber-rich diet. From personal experience, gradually increasing my daily fiber intake to 25–35 grams helped me notice improved digestion and less gut discomfort. Including more than 30 different plant-based foods each week was a game-changer for microbial diversity—this variety provides an array of polyphenols and prebiotic fibers that nourish beneficial gut bacteria. Foods such as leafy greens, berries, legumes like butterbeans, nuts, seeds, and whole grains are excellent sources of fiber and polyphenols. For MCAS, it’s essential to choose low-histamine and anti-inflammatory options to avoid triggering symptoms. I found that preparing meals rich in colorful vegetables and incorporating plant diversity also helped me manage inflammation and gut barrier function. In addition, drinking plenty of water and limiting processed foods supports the mucus lining of the gut. Including fermented foods cautiously and monitoring their impact can add beneficial probiotics that complement fiber’s effects. Tracking how specific foods affect your symptoms is valuable; everyone’s tolerance is different, especially with MCAS. Ultimately, adopting this lifestyle not only improved my gut health and MCAS symptoms but also enhanced my overall wellbeing. Sharing recipes and food ideas that emphasize fiber and diverse plants encourages others facing similar challenges to take control of their gut health naturally.
