POST-GRAD PREP

👔 3 Ways to Prepare for Post-Grad:

1. Make Connections 🔗

I’ve mentioned this before, but getting connected is SO important to prepare for post-grad life! LinkedIn is a great way to begin putting yourself out there. Start connecting with companies and individuals that align with your interests and career goals. Do NOT be afraid to reach out! One of the best ways to build a network is through, guess what, networking (imagine that!). People appreciate those that are willing to learn and be go-getters.

Another way to make connections is by getting involved. Whether it’s in your hometown or college campus, knowing people and showcasing your talents is critical. If you’re in an internship role currently, ask them about employment opportunities or even connections that they have! That’s what they’re there for.

2. Become very familiar with Career Services 📍

Every college campus has a Career Services Center. Make them your best friend! They will help create your best resume and find ways to help those who want help.

Many institutions have ‘feeder employers,’ where companies tend to hire students who are recent post-grads from the college. Make those connections.

3. Slowly Create a Routine 💤

Post-grad isn’t easy, especially when you’re used to the late nights and free lifestyle of a college student. While I’m not saying to give up the last moments of college, I am saying that utilizing your weeks to study hard, exercise, and get an adequate amount of sleep, will tremendously help you when it comes time for that ‘real’ job!

Just a few, small tips - but they are so important for every soon-to-be post-grad!

First, leveraging the power of networking is vital; reach out to professionals on platforms like LinkedIn and at career fairs to build crucial connections. Remember, connections can often lead to job opportunities. Secondly, familiarize yourself with your college's Career Services Center. This resource is invaluable for crafting resumes and accessing job listings tailored for recent graduates. Many employers actively seek out graduates from specific universities, so don't hesitate to utilize these connections. Lastly, creating a routine that promotes wellness—such as regular exercise, studying, and getting enough sleep—can help you transition smoothly into the working world. Balancing these elements will help you maintain your physical and mental health during this pivotal time. By implementing these strategies, you can reduce post-grad anxiety and enhance your readiness for professional life.
