What is your pain producing?
Pain and suffering is promised in this life. The question is, will you hand it over to God and let Him use it for good (Rom. 8:28), or will we live a life trying to avoid it, to our own peril?
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28)
3 Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. (Romans 5:3–5)
From personal experience, I've found that pain often feels overwhelming and meaningless at first. However, reflecting on the biblical teachings shared in Romans 8:28 and 5:3-5 has helped me see pain as a transformative tool rather than just hardship. When I faced challenges, instead of trying to avoid or suppress the pain, I learned to surrender it and seek understanding of its purpose. This approach brought a shift in perspective—pain stopped being an enemy and became a teacher. Perseverance developed as I kept moving forward despite difficulties, shaping my character and ultimately deepening my hope. Such endurance feels supported through the spiritual love and strength described as poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Moreover, embracing pain has taught me valuable life lessons about resilience and meaning. Recognizing that suffering contributes to personal growth and aligns with a divine purpose helped me find peace amid trials. It encouraged me to follow Jesus sincerely, trusting that what feels like loss or hardship is part of a larger plan for good. In daily life, this mindset transforms how we respond to pain—whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. Rather than resisting suffering, accepting it as a catalyst for growth allows us to experience hope that does not disappoint. Sharing this with others facing their own struggles has often brought comfort and encouragement, showing that pain, though difficult, can produce lasting positive change and purpose.
