🍞 Home Recipe 🥖
Ingredients: (BREAD)
4 cups flour
1 packet of instant rise yeast
2 tsp salt
2 cups warm water 💧
Directions:
1) Combine flour, salt & yeast
2) I used a wooden spoon (it will look doughy and sticky, that's normal)
3) Cover bowl and let rise for at least 2 hours(I used a towel)
4) After 2 hours, I took the dough and kneaded and pulled softly but only a few time not more than four times.
5) Preheat oven to 450 with Dutch oven inside!
6) Place dough into the hot (greased) dutch oven seam side up! Bake for 30 minutes covered then remove lid and bake additional 10 minutes to get a nice crust. Slice once cool!
After a while I don’t think I waited two hours before putting in the oven. I let the bowls sit on the oven top to “rise”. I just baked them as I went in a dutch oven.
Additional tips/notes:
I’m still learning.
have fun baking and playing with ingredients.

Sourdough baking has gained immense popularity for its unique flavor and health benefits. This fermentation-based method not only produces delicious bread but also enhances gut health due to its probiotic content. To succeed in sourdough baking, one must understand the importance of a sourdough starter. A good starter consists of equal parts flour and water, fermented over time to cultivate wild yeast and beneficial bacteria. Experimenting with different flours, such as whole wheat or rye, can lead to unique flavor profiles. Many bakers recommend using a digital kitchen scale for precise measurements, ensuring consistency in your baking results. Additionally, patience is key in this process; allowing the dough to rest and rise properly makes a significant difference in the texture and flavor of the bread. There are countless variations of sourdough recipes available, including options for adding herbs, cheese, or other ingredients for added flavor. Engaging with the sourdough community via social media and forums can provide encouragement and valuable insights into the baking process. Remember, every baker has a unique journey, and learning from mistakes is part of mastering the art of sourdough. Whether you’re baking for family gatherings or simply enjoying homemade bread, the satisfaction of pulling a fresh loaf from the oven is unbeatable.
