Morning guys! I’m back again to share another provincial flower reveal from my Canadian Floral Heart pattern project 🤍🌿
Today’s provincial flower is the Mountain Aven for the Northwest Territories! The flower is a hardy flower that’s technically part of the rose family & has a bunch of prongs in the center that I used a turkey work stitch to capture ♥️
Stay tuned for the next flower reveal tomorrow and the finished heart reveal on July 1st ✨🇨🇦

When I first began embroidering this project, I didn't realize how much there was to learn about each provincial flower. The Mountain Aven, in particular, stands out due to its resilience and distinctive features. Part of the rose family, this flower's cluster of prongs at its center challenged me creatively, and using the turkey work stitch really brought texture and depth to the design. Embroidery techniques like this allow you to not just replicate a flower but to convey its character and toughness, especially one native to the harsh climates of the Northwest Territories. What I appreciate most about working on this project is how it connects art with nature and culture. Each stitch tells a story, and the Canadian Floral Heart project is a testament to the beauty and diversity found across the provinces and territories. If you’re interested in embroidery, I’d encourage you to experiment with layered stitches to depict natural elements like petals and leaves. It’s rewarding to see a piece come alive under your needle. This ongoing series has also deepened my appreciation of Canada’s flora. From the Mountain Aven to the next flowers I’ll reveal, each plant has a unique significance and a role in its ecosystem. For crafters or flower enthusiasts alike, combining botanical knowledge with embroidery skills creates not only beautiful art but also meaningful connections to our natural heritage. I’m excited to share the finished Canadian Floral Heart on July 1st—Canada Day! It’s a proud celebration of both the country’s natural beauty and the creativity that brings it to life through fiber art. If you’re following along, I hope you find inspiration in these provincial flowers as much as I do.
