Books and Baubles

Garrett and Elora were an inseparable pair of siblings who lived a quaint, boring life. Nothing too exciting ever happened to them, so the two developed a thirst for adventure through books. One evening, their parents planned a date night, leaving them in the care of their Aunt Natalie. She was an eccentric woman and a self-proclaimed antique aficionado. After bidding the happy couple a pleasant evening, Natalie whisked them away to an exhibit showcasing a peculiar, newly discovered sinkhole on the outskirts of town. Deep within its depths lay the remnants of a long-forgotten community. The exhibit was centered in a small strip of curious shops that lured travelers in to visit the hole and spend a few bucks along the way.

After scanning the store names, one caught their attention, and they lit up with joy. Being the avid readers that they were, Garrett and Elora made a beeline for the quaint bookstore, Books and Baubles, while Natalie wandered into the adjoining antique shop. Though charming, the bookstore issued an ominous warning: any patrons still inside after closing would become the owner's property. Brushing it off as an odd joke, the siblings eagerly scoured the shelves, marveling at the ancient tomes and bizarre figurines that resembled fused animal hybrids.

They were having so much fun that time must have gotten away from them. Without warning, a cuckoo clock chimed, signaling closing time. Suddenly, Garrett and Elora found themselves separated and transformed into living baubles - grotesque figments reminiscent of the strange statues they had been admiring mere moments before. And those same baubles are now telling them that they had until the store's reopening to collect five mystical orbs and escape, or else remain trapped in their new forms for eternity. Their wondrous adventure had taken a dark, perilous turn. What will come of them? How will they escape?
