i have OCD though, so I shape my everyday around that

Based on personal experience, I arrange my shopping trip meticulously to prevent any potential contamination that could trigger anxiety. One of the most critical steps I follow is always handling refrigerated items with care. I grab and place refrigerated products, such as dairy and vegetables, in my cart separately to prevent cross-contact with raw meats. Raw meat packages, which sometimes leak, are kept in double bags provided by the store, adding an extra layer of protection. Interestingly, I have also noticed that many stores place hand sanitizing wipes right next to the meat section, encouraging shoppers to clean their hands after handling packages. I never hesitate to use these wipes frequently while shopping to maintain cleanliness and minimize risk. When it comes to the checkout process, I am conscious of the order in which items are scanned and placed on the conveyor belt. I prefer the cashier to scan non-refrigerated, ready-to-eat items first, followed by separately wrapped raw meats to avoid any cross-contamination. This approach also allows me to keep my hands clean since I avoid touching other groceries after handling meat. Additionally, to minimize any anxiety about potential contamination, I bring my own reusable bags and clean them regularly. This practice, along with the aforementioned precautions, helps me maintain control and wellbeing during shopping trips. For those who share similar concerns or just want to maintain good food safety habits, these practical steps can make grocery shopping a more manageable and less stressful experience. Embracing detailed hygiene habits not only helps control OCD impulses but also promotes overall health and safety for everyone.

I use the kart that has the bottom basket that is where the raw meats go. fruits/veggies go in the top basket.
