Why School is Cooked 🎓🤡
Having recently completed my master's degree, I found myself reflecting deeply on the societal structures that underpin our education system and beyond. Like many, I started with the belief that education was a straightforward path to success. However, as I dug deeper, I realized that the systems we trust — including education and the legal framework — are often constructed on shaky foundations that don’t always serve everyone equally. It feels like these systems benefit those already in positions of power or wealth, making escape or advancement possible mainly if you have sufficient financial resources. For many, the 'answers' they've been given through formal education don't hold up under closer scrutiny, especially when confronting real-world challenges. This realization can be disheartening but also empowering. It pushes us to question inherited assumptions and seek alternative pathways to personal and professional growth. Whether it’s developing practical skills, engaging in community initiatives, or embracing entrepreneurial endeavors, there are ways to redefine success outside traditional education paradigms. In sharing this perspective, I hope others will feel encouraged to critically assess the systems around them and find what truly aligns with their values and goals, rather than blindly following a prescribed route. Sometimes, acknowledging that things are 'made up' or flawed is the first step toward creating meaningful change for ourselves and future generations.
