How to Know if a Deity likes your Offering
One way to know if a deity likes your offering 🫶🏻 #witch #witchtok #hellenicpolytheist #hellenicpolytheism #fyp #fypシ #deitywork #deityworship #deityofferings
My journey with deity work has been so full of learning, and one of the biggest questions I always had was, 'How do I know if they really liked what I offered?' The original post touched on the immediate feeling, and honestly, that's been my primary guide, especially when I first started. Like when I tried that rose-based incense and felt instantly nauseous – definitely a sign they didn't like it! But when I switched to frankincense, that warm, buzzy, happy, and tingly feeling? Pure affirmation. It's truly how you know they like it. However, I've also learned that acceptance isn't always an immediate gut feeling. Sometimes, the signs are more subtle, appearing in different ways over time. Here are a few other things I've learned to look out for: 1. Dreams and Visions: I've often received messages or vivid imagery in my dreams after making an offering. These aren't always direct 'thank yous,' but sometimes they're symbolic confirmations or even guidance related to the offering's intent. For example, after an offering to a deity of abundance, I once dreamt of lush gardens overflowing with fruit – a clear sign of positive reception. 2. Synchronicities and 'Coincidences': Keep an eye out for meaningful coincidences in your daily life. If you've offered to a specific deity for a particular outcome, a sudden stroke of luck or an unexpected opportunity that aligns with your request can be a powerful sign of acceptance. I remember offering to Aphrodite for a boost in self-love, and the very next day, a friend complimented something I felt insecure about – it felt like a little nudge from her! 3. Shifts in Your Environment: Sometimes, the energy around your altar or home can subtly shift. Maybe the air feels lighter, or a specific scent (unrelated to your offering) lingers pleasantly. If you're sensitive to energy, you might even feel a tangible presence or warmth. This is often more noticeable with elemental or nature deities. 4. Unexpected Blessings or Opportunities: This goes beyond simple coincidences. Sometimes, an offering can open doors you weren't even looking for. This isn't about demanding results, but rather seeing the universe respond positively to your sincere intention and gift. **What if they don't like it? Just like my rose incense experience, sometimes you get a clear 'no.' Don't feel discouraged! It's part of learning. If you feel a negative reaction, or simply no reaction, it's okay to remove the offering and try something else later. It’s a dialogue, not a one-way street. I’ve learned to see it as feedback, not rejection. Deity Reaching Out vs. Offering Acceptance: It's important to distinguish between a deity reaching out to you and them accepting an offering. A deity reaching out might involve repeated signs, symbols, or even a strong pull towards them before you've even made an offering. Acceptance, on the other hand, is a specific response to a gift or intention you've presented. Both are wonderful, but understanding the difference helps you interpret the signs more accurately. Aphrodite and Other Deities:** While my general intuitive method works for many, I've found certain deities have particular preferences. For Aphrodite, things like rose petals, honey, and beautiful objects are often very well received. With the Fae, it's a whole different game! They often prefer shiny things, milk, honey, or even a small piece of your art, but always be respectful and cautious, as their rules can be quite strict. Knowing a deity's traditional associations can sometimes give you a head start, but always trust your intuition first and foremost. Ultimately, deity work is a deeply personal practice. Listen to your gut feelings, pay attention to the subtle nudges from the universe, and always approach your offerings with respect and an open heart. That's the real secret to knowing if your offering landed just right.
