so excited to take you guys along w me each week!! (we need more average peeps showing what it’s like to compete😂

(I’ve always wanted to do this but thought I wasn’t “good enough” to post about it, which I’ve realized is stupid lol the Open is for everyone so we should see every level of athlete posting about it!)

YES I was planning to repeat 26.1 on Sunday (I think I could have gotten a better score) but it destroyed my quads so badly I legitimately couldn’t repeat lmao 💀

SO for those who are like WHAT is “the Open” 😂

the CrossFit Open consists of 3 workouts spread out over 3 weeks, with each one being announced on the Thursday of each week

once announced, you have until the following Monday to complete it (4 days) and submit your score

usually, crossfit gyms will have a specific day where everyone does it together, so it’s a lot of fun (and you need a judge!)

this is technically the first step toward qualifying for the CrossFit Games - but for most of us, it’s just a yearly progress check🧚 you repeat movements you’ve trained all year & hopefully get to use new skills you didn’t have the previous year!!

anddd you’re motivated to push harder since you’re competing against last years score 👀

what makes it extra hard is you don’t know what the workout is beforehand - so you can’t practice it over and over - anddd have no clue if it will have things you can’t even do yet 🤣 (praying there’s no muscle ups in the next one LMAO)

either way tho there is an RX, scaled and foundations version - so even if you can’t do RX yet (the workout as written) you can always scale. highly recommend if you have never competed in the Open to try it out - it’s for everyone + a great way to challenge yourself!!!

hopefully this will reach the crossfit girlies and anyone who’s curious about what it is!! happy open season!!💖

wearing @Alphalete Aura capri’s (comfiest fabric!!!) and Sandy bra in poise 🌸 code SILVS to save

... Read moreParticipating in the CrossFit Open each year has been an incredibly rewarding experience for me, especially as someone who's considered an 'average' athlete rather than an elite competitor. One of the best parts about the Open is how it brings people together — from beginners attempting their first wall balls to seasoned athletes tackling RX workouts — everyone shares that camaraderie and drive. What I appreciate most is the unpredictable aspect of the workouts. Since the exact workouts aren’t announced until Thursday each week, it really tests your adaptability and mental toughness. You can’t just train one skill obsessively; instead, you have to maintain a broad base of fitness. Over time, this has helped me improve in areas I might have neglected otherwise, like box jump overs or medicine ball step overs, which are often part of the Open workouts. The four-day window to complete and submit scores adds intensity but also flexibility. If you’re feeling wiped out from a brutal quad-burning workout like I recently was after 26.1, you get a chance to rest and come back stronger for the next challenge. Completing workouts in a supportive gym environment with judges and fellow CrossFitters cheering you on really amps up the energy — it’s pretty special. For anyone new to the Open, I can’t recommend it enough. There are RX, scaled, and foundations divisions to ensure the workouts fit every fitness level. This inclusivity allows you to challenge yourself appropriately without feeling overwhelmed. Plus, tracking your scores year-over-year is a fantastic motivator to keep improving. If you’re curious about what typical Open workouts look like, expect movements like wall balls, medicine ball step overs, and box jump overs. These exercises test various aspects of strength, endurance, and coordination. Preparing with a good warm-up routine and proper mobility work helps prevent injury and enhances performance. In my experience, gearing up for the Open also means investing in comfortable, reliable workout gear. Wearing items like Alphalete Aura capris with soft fabric and a good supportive bra makes a huge difference when you’re pushing through tough workouts. Overall, the CrossFit Open is not just a competition—it's a community celebration of fitness progress for all athletes. Whether your goal is to qualify for the Games or simply see how far you’ve come, embracing the Open can be motivating and fun. So if you’ve ever wondered about competing, now is the perfect time to dive in and see what you’re capable of!
