sometimes it’s so hard not to take it personally I get it but 9/10 it has nothing to do w you!!! I always try to take a step back and think wait what could be going on that is making them react this way. but also - this doesn’t excuse horrible behaviour lol if someone constantly treats you like shit don’t make excuses for them either. their problems do not give them a right to bully you. brush it off and try to distance yourself as best you can!!
From my own experience, understanding that other people's negative behavior usually stems from their own insecurities or internal struggles was a turning point. It’s not easy at first — there were times when I felt hurt or confused about why someone acted out towards me. But taking a step back to consider what might be going on in their life helped me not to internalize those actions. For example, if someone seems consistently hostile or dismissive, it’s worth asking yourself if they might be facing challenges you don’t see. Maybe they’re dealing with stress, jealousy, or other emotions they haven’t learned to manage yet. This perspective doesn’t mean you excuse bad treatment or tolerate bullying — far from it. Protecting your mental health by distancing yourself or setting firm boundaries is crucial. I found journaling and talking through these experiences with friends also helped. Naming the behavior and recognizing it wasn’t about me reduced the emotional weight. Remember, nobody has the right to bully you, no matter their struggles. Your well-being matters most, and sometimes the best step is to brush off negativity and focus on people who uplift you. It’s a learning process but one that leads to greater peace and stronger self-respect.
