The Story of the Man who was Afraid of the Wind.
It may be a good thing to take a break and "be with it” when we experience loss. There is also a time take a risk and jump back in. Through introspection, and compassion, we can take steps with grace to enjoy life.
Life often presents us with challenges that can feel as invisible yet powerful as the wind. Fear, especially of something intangible like change or loss, can hold us back from experiencing the fullness of life. From personal experience, I have found that allowing myself moments to pause and 'be with it'—acknowledging and feeling my emotions without rush—provides the grounding needed to heal and reflect. However, this pause should not become a permanent retreat. After such moments, taking the risk to 'jump back in' is crucial. This means embracing vulnerability, stepping into the uncertainty with courage, and trusting the journey ahead. Compassion towards ourselves in these phases fosters resilience and grace, allowing growth even in the face of fear. In practical terms, I remind myself that fear is often a signal to slow down and assess, not a permanent stop sign. The story of the man afraid of the wind exemplifies this balance—the wisdom of knowing when to rest and when to move forward. Through mindful introspection combined with courageous action, we can transform fear into fuel for a richer, more meaningful life. Engaging with supportive communities or contemplative practices can also offer encouragement and insight along the way.
