Learning to be myself has been one of the hardest and most freeing journey yet ✨

Glow Up Diaries ✨ Part 1: Be Yourself (For Real)

One of the biggest things I’ve had to learn on my glow-up journey…

Is how to actually be myself.

Not the version of me that’s easier to accept.

Not the version that keeps the peace.

Not the version that gets approval.

Me.

💭 Why this matters more than you think

When you’re not grounded in who you are, you start to:

• Shape-shift depending on who you’re around

• Say yes when you want to say no

• Overthink everything

• Seek validation before making decisions

• Feel disconnected from yourself

And over time…

You don’t even recognize who you are anymore.

😕 What happens when you’re not being yourself

This is the part no one talks about:

You attract people who don’t truly align with you.

You build relationships based on a version of you that isn’t real.

You feel unseen… even when people are around you.

Because they’re not experiencing the real you.

🌱 What changed for me

I realized:

✨ I don’t have to perform

✨ I don’t have to be liked by everyone

✨ I don’t have to shrink to fit

The right people will align with the real version of me.

💫 What being yourself actually looks like

It’s not loud or dramatic.

It’s:

✔ Saying what you really mean

✔ Honoring how you feel

✔ Moving in alignment with your values

✔ Choosing yourself without guilt

🤍 Final reminder

Your glow up isn’t just physical.

It’s becoming someone who is:

✨ Grounded

✨ Self-assured

✨ Authentic

Because when you’re truly yourself…

Everything else starts to align.

... Read moreOne crucial aspect of learning to be yourself, which often goes unspoken, is the gradual process of self-discovery that accompanies it. From personal experience, the moment I stopped trying to fit into others' expectations was transformative. I’d repeatedly catch myself saying things or behaving in ways that weren’t true to my feelings just to keep harmony. It felt like wearing a mask that slowly drained my energy. When I began to prioritize honesty about my thoughts and feelings, I noticed a shift—not only within me but also in my relationships. People who resonated with the authentic version of me naturally gravitated closer, while superficial connections faded away. This echoes the notion that authenticity isn’t loud or dramatic but rooted in alignment with your values and emotions. An important takeaway from this self-alignment is learning to embrace imperfections without guilt. Choosing yourself doesn’t mean being selfish; it means honoring your needs and boundaries. For example, saying no to commitments that don’t align with your growth freed up time for what truly mattered, reinforcing self-respect. Moreover, the glow-up journey extends beyond physical changes—it’s about cultivating groundedness and self-assurance. These qualities create a foundation where you can move confidently through life without relying on external validation. This inner stability became a source of freedom for me, allowing me to take risks and express creativity authentically. In practice, tools like journaling helped me clarify my values and feelings, making it easier to stay true to myself during challenging moments. Surrounding myself with supportive communities passionate about self-love and growth further reinforced this positive transformation. Ultimately, embracing who you truly are unlocks a profound sense of peace and joy. It’s a challenging path, but the rewards—authentic relationships, self-trust, and alignment with your purpose—are deeply fulfilling. If you’re on this journey, remember that every small step towards being yourself is a powerful act of self-care and authenticity.
