in honor of Jane coffee and matcha first anniversary 🥳🥳🥳, I decided to go down memory lane of all the bevvies I’ve had and tried at their pop-ups! Truly, Jane coffee and Matcha has become a force to be reckoned with in the DMV Matcha cart scene and I’m so excited to see how successful they’ve been and excited to witness their continued success.

Having experienced a variety of drinks from Jane Coffee & Matcha, I can confidently say their innovative combinations truly stand out in the DMV beverage scene. One of my personal favorites is the toasted rice hojicha, which I rate a perfect 10/10 – its rich, toasty flavor creates a comforting and memorable sip every time. For matcha lovers, the black sesame matcha with its nutty undertone is a crowd-pleaser, earning an 8.5/10 in my book. On the other hand, some drinks leaned more towards traditional flavors. For example, the lavender matcha and the vanilla fig matcha reminded me of classic matcha lattes, which may not appeal to those seeking bold new tastes but still provide a soothing experience for matcha purists. The purple Earl Grey hojicha, from a collab with Afterschool Coffee House, offered a subtle yet enjoyable twist but left me wishing for a stronger tea note. Jane's creative use of toppings and added ingredients, such as chocolate shavings in their Aeropress coffee or the dehydrated fig in the vanilla fig matcha, adds playful complexity and enhances each beverage's character. The Thai tea blend stood out with its robust flavor, perfectly balancing the presence of matcha. What impresses me most about Jane Coffee & Matcha is how they continue to push flavor boundaries while honoring the classic elements of coffee and matcha. Their dedication to quality and experimentation has rightfully earned them a prominent place in the DMV area's matcha cart scene. If you're in the area, I highly recommend trying a range of their drinks to experience these unique flavor profiles firsthand.
