... Read moreHey everyone! I totally get how challenging it can be to stay on track during college, especially when things get a bit chaotic. That's why I'm really pushing myself this spring semester to not just 'get through' junior year, but to truly make the most of it and set myself up for success. I’ve been thinking a lot about how to do exceptionally well in school and what I truly *want to achieve this year as a student*, and it boils down to a few key areas that I want to share with you all. First up, building my portfolio is a huge priority. It's not enough to just take classes; I want to have tangible proof of my skills. For me, that means actively working on projects outside of coursework, like those short films I’ve been dreaming of directing. I’m planning to use platforms like Behance or a personal website to showcase my best work. Networking is also a big part of this – reaching out to professionals in my field, asking for feedback, and looking for collaborative opportunities can make all the difference. Having a strong portfolio is essential for standing out after graduation, and I’m making sure to prioritize it now. Next, applying for internships is right at the top of my list. Junior year is the sweet spot for gaining real-world experience, and I know how competitive it can be. My plan is to dedicate specific time each week to research companies, tailor my resume, and practice interview questions. I'm looking for roles where I can apply what I learn in class to practical situations, maybe even getting hands-on with camera controls or production work if I can find something in that area. Internships aren't just about gaining experience; they're also fantastic for making connections and often lead to full-time offers, so it’s definitely a goal I’m taking seriously. Then there's keeping exploring. College is about so much more than just academics! This semester, I'm committed to stepping out of my comfort zone. That means actively joining new clubs or student organizations that align with my interests, or even just trying out a one-off campus event. Expanding my network isn't just for professional growth; it's also about meeting new people and discovering new passions. And when it comes to breaks, I’m brainstorming spring break ideas for teens that involve more than just lounging around – maybe a road trip to a nearby city, exploring local hiking trails, or even just discovering new cafes in my college town. It’s all about embracing new experiences! Another big one for me is improving my time management. Last semester felt like a constant juggle, and I often felt overwhelmed. This spring, I’m implementing a stricter planning routine. I’m going to use a digital planner to map out my entire week, including specific blocks for studying, classes, and even gym attendance. Prioritizing tasks and learning to say no when I’m overcommitted are key. I’m hoping this helps me avoid that feeling of being constantly behind and allows me to allocate enough time to each of my goals without burning out. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, I want to live my best life. College junior year is a unique time, and I don't want to look back and wish I had enjoyed it more. This means consciously making time for socializing with friends, exploring new places in and around my campus, and engaging in activities that bring me joy. It’s about finding that balance between working hard and taking care of my mental and physical well-being. Whether it's a spontaneous coffee run with friends, trying out a new restaurant, or just taking a moment to appreciate the sunset, these little moments add up to a truly fulfilling experience. What are your *junior year goals*? I’d love to hear how you’re planning to tackle your semester! Let's make this our best one yet!
