Day 5- Stewardship of Time

This month’s focus is being a good steward. When I was studying spiritual disciplines the one area that really stood out to me was being a good steward. It was understanding that my life and the things in it do not belong to me. It is all from the Lord and he has made me a manager of these things. It's my job to manage it properly for his glory. Whether it is money, time, friendships, or my children….. All belongs to the Lord and he has given us authority over it for a time.

Each day there will be a challenge for you to evaluate how you are being a good steward in a specific area of your life. You will have a scripture to reference, a reflection question, and an activity to complete. As always grab you a journal and for this month also a planner/calendar. The journal is for writing out scripture or prayers daily. The calendar will be to help you in evaluating how your time is spent daily. If you don’t have a calendar, you can just create your own in your journal.

Ephesians 5:15-17, “Be very careful, then, how you live-not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is”

I am so excited for this challenge this month! I pray that this challenge helps me and you to be a better steward of the blessings the Lord has given us.

2025/2/5 Edited to

... Read moreFollowing up on my journey through this 28-day stewardship challenge, we've been focusing a lot on managing our time effectively for God's glory. But as I reflect on what it truly means to be a good steward, my thoughts often turn to our role as stewards of the earth itself. The Bible reminds us that 'the earth is the Lord's, and everything in it,' (Psalm 24:1) and we're given the incredible privilege and responsibility to care for it. Just as we manage our finances, relationships, and time, so too are we called to manage the world around us. It's not just about personal disciplines; it's about seeing the bigger picture of God's creation and our place within it. For me, connecting my daily time management to broader environmental care has been a huge revelation. The original article emphasized that everything belongs to the Lord, and this certainly includes our planet. Therefore, being a good steward means actively protecting and preserving the gifts He has given us, including the natural world. One of the insights from the 28-day Challenge mentioned 'serving the Lord' through 'an act of service' in the church or community. This really resonated with me. How often do we think of environmental care as an act of service to God and humanity? When we choose to reduce waste, conserve energy, or participate in a community clean-up, we are actively participating in God's ongoing creation and showing love to our neighbors by preserving the planet for future generations. It's a tangible way to live out our faith and be responsible 'stewards of the earth.' Think about your daily routine. How much time do you spend on consuming new things versus reusing or repairing? My 'stewardship of time' challenge has truly pushed me to plan meals more carefully to reduce food waste, which saves both money and resources. It’s also made me more mindful of my energy consumption. Turning off lights or unplugging devices might seem small, but these habits, when consistently applied, add up. It’s about being intentional with each moment, just as we're learning to be with our schedules. Another area where we can be better 'stewards of the earth' is through responsible consumption. Before I buy something new, I now pause and ask myself: Do I truly need this? Can I borrow it, or buy it second-hand? This aligns perfectly with the spirit of the '28 day Challenge' – evaluating our habits and making conscious choices. It's an 'act of service' to the planet and to our future. Getting involved in community efforts is also a powerful way to put our stewardship into practice. Whether it's volunteering for a park clean-up, supporting local farmers who practice sustainable agriculture, or simply sharing information about eco-friendly living with friends, every step makes a difference. These are all forms of 'community helping those less fortunate' – because environmental degradation disproportionately affects vulnerable communities. This journey has shown me that being a steward isn't just about managing what's 'mine,' but understanding that everything is interconnected and ultimately belongs to God. My commitment on Day 5 of this challenge isn't just about personal discipline anymore; it's about embracing a holistic approach to stewardship that includes caring for our precious planet. It's a continuous learning process, and I'm excited to see how these small daily acts of service can contribute to a larger impact. So, as you continue your own stewardship challenge, I encourage you to broaden your perspective. How can you integrate being a mindful 'steward of the earth' into your daily life? What small 'act of service' can you commit to this year to protect God's creation? It’s a powerful way to honor Him and truly make the most of every opportunity, just as Ephesians 5:15-17 encourages us. Let's grow together in this vital aspect of Christian living.
