What Healing can Look like

(meant to post this on the 19th, accidently left it in drafts.)

One year ago today, I had surgery to remove a massive lump on my head—what turned out to be four cysts and a lipoma. At the time, I was carrying more weight than I realized: in my body, in my heart, and in my choices. I even thought maybe I was ready to start dating again, and ended up setting myself up for disappointment.

But what a difference a year makes. Since then, I’ve healed—not just from surgery, but from the people and situations that dragged me down. I’ve done the hard work of learning my own worth. Through it all, my husband has been my anchor—showing up for me in ways that taught me I deserve love, respect, and support. Because of him, I know better now: I will never settle for less.

Recently, I tested the waters again with dating. Facebook Dating gave me quite a flood of responses—some sweet, some ridiculous, some genuinely kind. And I realized something: I don’t really want to force it with strangers. I’d rather let connection grow naturally, with people I trust.

I look happier because I am happier. This glow is healing, growth, and love—and it’s only getting brighter.

... Read moreHealing after surgery involves more than just physical recovery—it encompasses emotional and psychological transformation as well. In this deeply personal healing journey, the removal of four cysts and a lipoma from the head served as a pivotal moment, marking the start of profound changes not only in health but in self-perception and relationships. Cysts and lipomas are benign growths that can cause discomfort or emotional distress when noticeable. Surgical removal is often necessary to alleviate symptoms and improve quality of life. However, the healing process extends beyond the wound; it requires patience and attention to mental well-being. Emotional healing often parallels physical recovery. Carrying unrecognized emotional burdens, as reflected in the author’s story, can weigh heavily on one’s body and spirit. Recognizing these intangible weights is key to comprehensive healing. Through rediscovering self-worth and receiving support from loved ones, particularly a steadfast partner, the path to recovery becomes clearer and more attainable. Navigating the complex world of dating during recovery can be daunting. Online dating platforms like Facebook Dating may offer many responses—ranging from kind to unsuitable—but choosing to foster connections naturally and with trusted individuals honors the healing process and emotional safety. The visible 'glow' after healing is not simply a physical attribute but an outward reflection of inner growth and renewed happiness. This highlights that healing is a continuous journey of self-love, resilience, and setting boundaries that protect mental and emotional health. For those who have undergone similar medical procedures, combining physical treatment with emotional support systems can lead to a more holistic recovery. Trustworthy companionship and self-compassion are crucial elements in building a fulfilling life post-surgery. Ultimately, healing encompasses body, mind, and heart, transforming challenges into opportunities for growth and authentic connection.

What does healing really look like?❤️‍🩹
There are some things nobody warns you about when you start healing 🩷 That the loneliness gets louder before it gets quieter. That the people who don’t grow with you will feel like a loss even when you know they were never meant to stay. That love being real doesn’t always mean love being right. T

Healing Doesn’t Mean Forgetting!
Healing is often misunderstood. People think it means erasing the past, pretending nothing happened, or forcing yourself to move on as if it didn’t hurt. But real healing doesn’t work like that. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting, it means finding peace again. You don’t have to forget what you went
