I’m Minette… What an amazing community here, so glad to be apart of it. I joined to share mom hacks, crafts, DIY, travel and real life as an older mom to a toddler including real life struggles.
A little about me, married for 10yrs as of this Nov 💙
I’m a full time stay at home mom by choice to our son Parker. Prior to baby I worked in the Bridal Fashion Industry for more than 10yrs. Absolutely loved my career, my clients and colleagues.
Prior to baby, I was an avid health nut 😋. I did a lot of things for myself, facials, Botox, spray tans, things to keep me looking and feeling good. Since becoming a mom I haven’t done anything. I’m on a journey to find myself again!
I did CrossFit 5 days a week and lifted heavy at the gym. I’ll be honest I haven’t worked out since my son was born. I haven’t found the time, energy or want to leave him to go… That’s all about to change!
Can’t wait to 😀😀share that journey with you all.
I’ve also struggled with Thyroid issues since becoming a mom. So if you’re like me in that situation I can relate.
... Read moreHey mamas! Minette here again, and if you're like me, you know that 'my crazy life after baby' isn't just a phrase, it's a whole new reality! As a 'boy mom' at 44, I often find myself looking in the mirror and wondering, 'Who is this woman?' Before Parker, I was all about CrossFit, facials, and feeling on top of the world. Now? It's a win if I get five minutes to myself.
I've been on a mission lately to reclaim parts of myself, and I wanted to share some of the baby steps I'm taking, especially for those of you dealing with similar 'new mom struggles' or even thyroid issues like me. It's tough when your energy levels are already out of whack, isn't it?
Reclaiming Fitness (Baby Steps Edition): Forget jumping straight back into heavy lifting when you're a tired 'boy mom.' I've started with 15-minute walks around my So Cal neighborhood with Parker in the stroller. When he's napping, I've found some amazing 10-minute bodyweight workouts online. It's not CrossFit, but it's *something*. The key is consistency, not intensity, especially when your body is still healing or dealing with hormonal shifts.
Rediscovering Self-Care (Beyond the Spa): Those pre-baby days of Botox and spray tans feel like a distant dream! But self-care doesn't have to be a full spa day. For me, it's become about micro-moments. A five-minute hot shower without interruption (a rare luxury!), listening to my favorite podcast while doing dishes, or even just putting on a little red lipstick (as seen in my selfie!) makes a huge difference to my mood. It's about remembering you are still important.
Mom Hacks for the 'Crazy' Days: To make time for these tiny acts of self-reclamation, I've embraced some serious mom hacks. Think batch cooking simple, healthy meals on a Sunday, having a designated 'toy rotation' bin to keep Parker engaged longer, or even a quick DIY craft project that keeps his hands busy for a few minutes while I sip a hot coffee. Every little bit helps manage the chaos!
Dealing with Thyroid Challenges: This has been a huge one for me since becoming a mom. The fatigue can be overwhelming, making the 'finding myself' journey even harder. If you're experiencing similar symptoms, please talk to your doctor. Understanding what's going on with your body is the first step. I'm learning to be kinder to myself on low-energy days and focus on nutrient-dense foods and gentle movement.
Being a 'digital creator' and sharing this journey here on Lemon8 has actually been a huge motivator. Knowing there's a community of incredible women out there who get it makes all the difference. We're all in this 'crazy boy mom life' together, finding our way back to ourselves, one messy, beautiful day at a time. What are YOUR go-to mom hacks or self-care tips?
