Vibing at the Vintage Hawker Center! 🍜✨

Found the cutest lunch spot that feels like stepping back into old Singapore! This traditional pushcart vendor at Food Republic in /Mandai Wildlife Reserve serves classic local drinks.

🌟 The Vibe: String lights, vintage carts, and a blue-sky ceiling mural. It’s super photogenic and a fun throwback!

🍜 The Food: They have over 20 curated stalls. I highly recommend the coin prata with mutton curry from Aarthy Banana Leaf Indian Cuisine, or the charcoal-grilled satay from Huat Huat BBQ Chicken Wings & Satay. You can finish off with some amazing dessert from Old Amoy Chendol.

💡 Tip: This is a perfect pit stop after exploring the Mandai area or visiting Bird Paradise. Great photo opportunities too!

Mandai Wildlife Reserve

... Read moreVisiting the vintage-style hawker center at Food Republic near Mandai Wildlife Reserve provides a unique blend of Singapore’s rich food heritage and a charming retro atmosphere. What makes this spot truly special is not just the diversity of stalls, but the authentic local flavors that each vendor offers. The traditional pushcart vendor mentioned serves classic local drinks, which perfectly complement the variety of hearty dishes available. One personal tip I find invaluable is to allocate some extra time to explore the combination of the food and the ambiance. The string lights and ceiling mural create an inviting space that’s perfect for memorable photos, making it an excellent choice for visitors wanting to capture the old Singapore vibe with a modern twist. If you’re a fan of South Indian cuisine, the coin prata paired with mutton curry from Aarthy Banana Leaf Indian Cuisine is a standout. The crispy yet soft prata contrasts beautifully with the rich, flavorful curry. Meanwhile, satay lovers will delight in the charcoal-grilled options from Huat Huat BBQ Chicken Wings & Satay, where the smoky, tender meat offers an indulgent treat. Don’t miss finishing your meal with a refreshing dessert like the Old Amoy Chendol, which blends creamy coconut milk with sweet palm sugar and green jelly noodles, creating a perfect balance of texture and flavors to soothe your palate. After a fulfilling meal, this vintage hawker center serves as an excellent pit stop following a day of nature adventures around the Mandai Wildlife Reserve or Bird Paradise. The ease of access and photogenic surroundings make it a winning combination for both locals and tourists looking to savor authentic tastes while enjoying a slice of Singapore’s nostalgic charm. In addition, the small drinks menu, including items priced at 50 and 104 for different sizes as indicated by the OCR content, reflects the affordable and value-for-money aspect of this food destination. Whether you’re coming for the food, the ambiance, or the photo ops, this spot is a delightful discovery for anyone wanting to experience the retro food culture of Singapore in a vibrant, modern setting.

$14 hawker center tenderloin wasn’t a mis-steak!
First time to ABC Brickworks and I probably found the best and good-value beef steak I’ve ever had at a hawker stall. At $14, I can’t be that mis-steak-ened. Lightly grilled tenderloin with brown sauce. No fat, tendons or frills - just the way I like it.

Went to dine at Woodleigh Village Hawker Centre. There are quite a few stalls which kind of tempted me to move towards them and order the foods. Tried the following food stalls: 1) Penang Man 槟城人 I was asking the stall lady for recommendation and ordered their Penang Prawn Mee (Dry) 槟城虾面 $5.50.

AJ MUFFINS - FLUFFY, SOFT & BUTTERY 😍😍🧁
I tried muffins from a hawker center for the first time, and they were pleasantly nice. I went to Alexandra Village for dinner, and they were having an evening promo: six randomly chosen muffins for $15.90. I bought two boxes and received one extra muffin, which I thought was a pretty good deal.👍
