Book review God of Wrath

Book name: God of wrath

Author: Rina kent

Genre: dark romance

My rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My review: honestly this book took me awhile to finish (about a year) cause i was in the worst reading slump of my life but after finishing it I went back through it and there are a lot of parts that i like I love cecily and jeremy so much there dynamic is great and them spending time with there friends is also great and some of my favorite moments. but I wish we could’ve spent more time on them properly getting back together during the third act conflict honestly it felt like she made them break up to just say the book has a third act conflict which is probably my biggest pet peeve cause that whole section felt like a waste a time #books #godofwrath #darkromance #BookReview #bookrecommendations

... Read moreFor those of you who've been curious about Rina Kent's 'God of Wrath' or are just diving into the world of dark romance, I wanted to share a deeper dive into some aspects that often come up in discussions. This book truly exemplifies what draws many of us to the genre, and there's so much to unpack beyond just the plot. First off, let's talk about the genre itself: dark romance. 'God of Wrath' by Rina Kent definitely delivers on this front. For those who are curious, dark romance often involves morally gray characters, intense power dynamics, and themes that push the boundaries of conventional love stories. It's not your typical fluffy romance, and this book is a prime example. The relationship between Cecily and Jeremy is raw, complex, and full of angst, fitting right into the darker side of romance. It delves into obsession, secrets, and a love that's far from conventional, which is exactly why I find it so compelling. Speaking of first impressions, let's talk about the 'God of Wrath' cover! I've noticed many searches for the cover details, and it truly is striking. The dark background with the bold orange text and subtle classical column imagery sets such a perfect, ominous tone for what's inside. For me, these visual elements immediately signal a certain gravitas and intensity, hinting at perhaps ancient secrets or a powerful, unyielding connection. The dark aesthetic really amplifies the 'dark' aspect of the romance – it's not light and airy; it's deep and almost gothic in its feel. The choice of classical column imagery often conveys old money, power, and a sense of history or legacy, which are definitely present in Rina Kent's world-building for this series. I've also seen some of you searching for 'King of Wrath by Rina Kent' alongside 'God of Wrath,' and it's a common point of confusion among readers! Rina Kent is a prolific author, and she has several incredibly popular series. While both are fantastic dark romances, they belong to different series. 'God of Wrath' is part of her 'Legacy of Gods' series, which focuses on a specific set of powerful, interconnected families. 'King of Wrath,' on the other hand, kicks off her 'Kings of Sin' series. Both feature intense alpha heroes and strong heroines, but they introduce different worlds and character sets. So, if you're diving into 'God of Wrath,' know you're starting a journey with the Legacy of Gods! It's important to keep them straight if you're planning your reading order, as they don't directly overlap in terms of plot or characters, though they share the author's signature dark romance style. Even with my earlier critique of the third act conflict, what truly keeps me engaged with books like 'God of Wrath' and the dark romance genre in general is the sheer intensity of the emotional journey. These stories don't shy away from uncomfortable truths or morally ambiguous situations, making the character development often profound and the stakes incredibly high. The push and pull between Cecily and Jeremy, for example, is what makes their dynamic so compelling. It’s about exploring the depths of love, obsession, and redemption in ways that traditional romance often doesn't. If you're someone who appreciates complex plots, flawed characters, and a love story that truly makes you feel something — even if it's frustration sometimes! — then diving into a dark romance like this is definitely worth your time. It offers a different kind of escapism, one that's thrilling and thought-provoking.
